Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the "Carbon Conference" website. Here we hope you will find everything you wish to know about the upcoming conference. The ninth conference in this series will take place 30 years after its inception at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

This venue continues to focus on understanding the role of carbonaceous particles in the environment. Topics covered include • global and regional climate effects • health effects • sampling and analysis methods • source characterization and emissions • transport and transformation • hydration and CCN properties • optical properties • and other relevant issues. Keeping with tradition, the conference will feature only one platform presentation at a time.

The conference will include an evening reception during check-in at the conference hotel, three days of single-track presentations, a poster session combined with a reception, and a three-hour dinner cruise in the San Francisco Bay. Please use the links embedded in this letter and at the side of this page to learn more about the conference.

Registration is now open and Abstract Submission opens at the start of February. Online registration is encouraged. Please note the important dates pertaining to registration and Abstract Submission.

Tickets for the dinner cruise can be purchased when you register online. The dinner cruise leaves conveniently from the marina at the conference hotel. The weather in August tends to be very nice, so we expect the limited number of dinner cruise tickets to sell out. Please purchase your tickets early. A block of rooms have been reserved at the conference hotel; please make your reservations directly with the hotel.

As we progress in planning, more information will be added to this website. Please do not hesitate to ask questions if you do not find what you are looking. For general inquiries, contact Cindy Tast (). Technical questions about the conference can be directed to Tom Kirchstetter ().

We are looking forward to a productive meeting, and we hope to see you there.

Warm regards,

Tom Kirchstetter
